Taylor James

    Bio:

    I have been working in the Attention and Working Memory Lab as well as the Memory and Aging Lab for about two years now. I’m currently working on my first paper for publication for my EEG study on how selective attention can improve source memory. I am interested in various aspects of cognitive neuroscience and plan on entering a Neuroscience Ph.D. program in the fall.

  • James, Strunk, Arndt & Duarte (September, 2014). The effects of selective attention on source memory retrieval in the young and old. Poster presented at the Society for Psychophysiological Research Conference, Atlanta, GA. And the paper has the same authors and same title at the moment and is in preparation.

Gemariah Valencia

    Bio:

    My future career goal is to become a medical doctor and work in the government to impact public health policies. I love to travel and interact with people of various backgrounds. This lab gives me experience in working with a team and learning the different ways memory capacity impacts the way people perform. When I am not in the lab or doing school work, I am a resident advisor at one of the undergraduate apartments, I enjoy the company of my church friends by playing various musical instruments, and I watch Korean drama.

Tristan Hackman

    Bio:

    I am interested in almost all facets of psychology, but primarily in emotion, abnormal, and cognitive psych. Although I am unsure of what I want to do in the future, I know that I love to study my major so it will probably have to do with that. I also enjoy art, literature, music, philosophy, and computer media. I also have an interest in studying neuroscience in the future, and how it plays a role in psychology.

    As a graduating senior, I am currently in the process of getting into an MD/PhD program with a focus in my interest of neuroscience and human development. Outside of the various school organizations in which I am involved, I enjoy watching movies, reading historical/christian fiction novels, and spending time with friends and family.

    Bio:

    My interests are robotics, basketball, Esports gaming, chess, and reading fiction books. I tend to research in designs and the details of various robots, and my past time interest is to research various strategies for a computer game. Also, while I was at Tech, I developed a hobby to play pool and bowling whenever I get the chance to.

Lucas K. Maurer

    Bio:

    In my spare time I like to participate in Odyssey of the Mind (a creative problem solving competition), longboard, and design. If I was to describe my personality, I would say that I am a very creative person and this shows from the activities I perform a lot. Odyssey allows me to create my own and original skits to act and perform out, longboarding allows me to dance on the board and perform various tricks/slides, and designing is designing. Besides being the creative person that I am, I also take part in organizations like SAA (Studdent Alumni Association) and various intramural clubs here at Georgia Tech.

    I am a second-year International Affairs pre-law student hoping to eventually go to law school and practice human rights law internationally.
